The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story
The Mageseeker is an independent, pixelated RPG action game for single players, developed by Riot Forge, a publishing studio owned by Riot Games, and Digital Sun. After Ruined King and Hextech Mayhem, you probably already know that the new title is indeed another “League of Legends” story.
This is an important point because although these games usually feature one main character from our beloved MOBA game, they also include a cast of characters rooted in their tradition – characters that cause their downfall, raise their spirits, or give them a good reason to commit murder. So, together with Sylas, they are League of Legends champions and their voice actors who appear in the hack and slasher.
Warning: major spoilers if you haven’t played The Mageseeker or League of Legends.
League of Legends champions in The Mageseeker
The League of Legends champions that appear in The Mageseeker from Riot Games are:
- Sylas
- Garen
- Jarwan IV
- Morgana
- Shyvana
The voice actors for these champions in The Mageseeker are:
- Sylas – Dave B. Mitchell
- Garen – Cena Jamieson
- Jarwan IV – Kyle Hebert
- Morgana – Eryka Lindbeck
- Shyvana – Karen Strasman
Sylas is the only human in League of Legends who is shackled up. He has natural talent for magic, but unlike other regions of Runeterra, Demacia prohibits magic because its rulers consider it dangerous. They have established mageseekers, a unit that eradicates people who wield magic. They tie them up and subject them to countless cruelties. As a young boy, Sylas realized that he could sense magic in others, which ultimately led to his capture. The game begins when he frees himself from prison.
Garen is voiced by American actor Jamieson Price, who has done a lot of work in dubbed anime. He embodies his title of Demacia’s Might. Described in his official biography as a “proud and noble warrior,” he belongs to the Unbreakable Vanguards, an elite order of warriors that deals with the kingdom’s greatest threats. As you might guess, one of them is Sylas.
If there is Demacia, there must be Garen and Jarvan IV. When their fates intertwine, the beginning of the game also marks Jarvan IV’s ascent to the throne. Dubbed the “paragon of Demacia,” he is the best example of a virtuous leader, strong, brave, determined, and maybe even a little handsome. He is voiced by Kyle Hebert in The Mageseeker, who also wrote the voice lines for this character in League of Legends and Legends of Runeterra.
Shyvana saved the life of Crown Prince Jarvan IV and although she is half dragon and half human, it was enough to earn her a place in his royal guard. Although she appears as a humanoid in Demacia, she can transform into a terrifying dragon during battle. Karen Strassman lends her voice to MOBA, reprising her role in The Mageseeker. She is an American theater, television, and voice actress whose hair is as fiery as Shyvana’s. She has worked for Legends of Runeterra, World of Warcraft, Resident Evil, and has dubbed anime titles.
If that wasn’t obvious enough, yes, Morgana is the evil sister on the right. We won’t reveal too much here, but you’ll notice that at the beginning of The Mageseeker story, although indirectly, she is constantly being raised by various characters. The actress who lends her voice is Erica Lindbeck, who also talked about The Mageseeker’s official trailer, which was positively received by the community. She dubs Lady Nagant in My Hero Academia, Tsuchiya in Mob Psycho 100, and has lent her talent to many other top-tier video game titles such as World of Warcraft, Cyberpunk 2077, and Persona 5 Strikers.
The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story is now available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam, Epic, GOG). It costs $29.99 for the standard edition, $39.99 for the Digital Deluxe edition, and $169.99 for the Collector’s edition.
